Join us for Louisiana Behavioral Health Day presented in partnership by the Louisiana Mental Health Association and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention – Louisiana Chapter.
Louisiana Behavioral Health Day will bring together passionate volunteers and peers to advocate for state policy changes that will improve behavioral health and prevent suicide. Events will take place within the Capitol Rotunda and on the Capitol Steps. Volunteers and peers are encouraged to meet with your state legislators as part of the event to:
Tell your story as a family advocate or peer
About the Rally: The event will begin with a rally on the capitol steps to hear from state and local advocacy leaders. We encourage everyone to wear white to “shine a light” on behavioral health and suicide prevention! After the rally, advocates can pick-up a to-go lunch and connect with community organizations at AZ Young park near the capitol.
About Legislative Meetings: Advocates and peers have the opportunity to set-up meetings with their legislators to discuss making behavioral health and suicide prevention a priority. Meetings are not required. If you would like to schedule a meeting with your legislator, please register and a member of the event staff will contact you to further assist.
