Resource Advocate

Kennedy Dozier joined STAR in June of 2022 as a Resource Advocate for the Greater New Orleans area. In 2023, she was promoted to the position of Advocacy Coordinator, where she took on additional responsibilities recruiting, leading, and training STAR’s volunteer advocates across Louisiana. Kennedy left the organization to pursue a graduate degree in May of 2024 and returned in a part-time capacity in March of 2025, resuming the role of Resource Advocate. Before STAR and during her time away from the organization, Kennedy worked as a research assistant on a variety of different projects related to sexual and reproductive health, health policy, and global health.

Kennedy completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience and Political Science in 2022, with a specialization in International Relations and a certificate in Gender-Based Violence Studies. During her undergraduate degree, Kennedy was a part of her university’s peer advocacy program for survivors of sexual violence on campus, worked in sports medicine, and participated in a variety of different campus groups around reproductive justice. Kennedy is currently working towards a Master’s of Public Health in Health Policy, and has completed a concentration in Maternal and Child Health as part of her program. She helped create and now serves as the Communication Director for her campus’s Maternal and Child Health Student Organization, and is a member of the Rural Health Club and the Sexual and Reproductive Health Club. She was a Maternal and Child Health Leadership Lab Fellow for the 2024-2025 academic year and a Global Mental Health Research Fellow for Fall 2024.

Outside of her work at STAR, Kennedy is active in local, statewide, and national health equity and social justice initiatives. She volunteers with abortion access networks, animal shelters, and health policy advocacy groups in her free time.
