Makenzee Brown

Community Educator, New Orleans

Makenzee is originally from St. Louis Missouri but has been residing in New Orleans for the past few years. Makenzee has made her professional focus helping people figure out what their strengths are and discovering how they can build those strengths into something greater.  In 2018 she began working at the University of New Orleans as their Career Service coordinator, in which she helped college students achieve their professional goals, ranging from crafting targeted resumes, to providing feedback on interview behavior, to also facilitating discussions about opportunities available in any field. After years as a Career and Youth Development Coordinator, she had a desire to move from youth and career advocacy to work towards victim advocacy within different communities. Makenzee is excited to be a part of the STAR Family as a Community Educator. One of her greatest priorities is to create a space where the community, survivors and their family all feels safe and comfortable to receive information and resources to begin the process of togetherness and healing.
