Genesis Miranda-Andino
she/her/hers
Trauma Therapy Intern; New Orleans
Genesis moved to New Orleans from Puerto Rico in 2023 to continue her education and pursue her passion for mental health and supporting survivors. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Loyola University New Orleans.
Through her academic training, she developed a strong interest in trauma-informed care and in supporting survivors of sexual violence and other traumatic experiences. Her desire to work in mental health services comes from her commitment to creating safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental spaces where individuals feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their healing journey. Part of this passion comes from recognizing the importance of having safe and supportive spaces during difficult moments, something that deeply shaped her own perspective on mental health and healing.
As an intern at STAR, Genesis believes that healing happens through collaboration and the creation of a safe and compassionate therapeutic environment. She hopes to continue developing her clinical skills and passion for supporting survivors throughout their healing journey while helping raise awareness about the impact of trauma and sexual violence.
Outside of school and work, Genesis enjoys reading, exploring New Orleans with her camera, and spending time with friends.
