DESCRIPTION:  \nSTAR relies on volunteer advocates to staff our 24/7 hotlines in Alexandria\, Baton Rouge\, and New Orleans. We are currently seeking volunteers to undergo our STAR Core Advocate Training. This training is broken into two parts\, an online portion and an in-person portion. The online learning portion must be completed prior to attending the in-person training. Due to Covid-19\, this Fall’s in-person training will be provided virtually. \nTraining dates for Fall 2020 are as follows: \n\nTuesday\, September 15th\, 5-9 p.m.\nThursday\, September 17th\, 5-9 p.m.\nSaturday\, September 20th\, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.\nSunday\, September 21st\, 1-5 p.m.\nTuesday\, September 22nd\, 5-9 p.m.\n\nTo become a volunteer\, you must first complete our online application. \n

DESCRIPTION:Join us in Baton Rouge on Friday\, December 27th for a continuing legal education (CLE) workshops for attorneys. This training educates participants about the civil legal needs of sexual assault survivors to enhance their ability to successfully advocate for survivors of sexual assault. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the training will take place from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. \nWorkshop cost is $75 per participant and is approved for 3.25 hours of credit\, including 1 hour of ethics and 1 hour of professionalism. Each participant must register separately. Participation in each workshop is limited to 20 people. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required to reserve your spot. On-site registration may be available if space allows\, though will be considered on a first-come\, first-served basis.
