Resource Advocate, Baton Rouge
Amy is originally from Austin, Texas, but relocated to Baton Rouge in 2009. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s degree in social work. She began her social work career working with the Family Crisis Center which serves the area between Austin and Houston. She worked as a Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Prevention Educator. For over a decade, she has worked in many different capacities supporting individuals and families dealing with the effects of violence and abuse. She practices a strengths-based approach and really enjoys working with people from diverse backgrounds and populations.
In 2017 she participated in the National Organization for Victim Assistance Victim Assistance Academy and graduated in May and is a certified Advocate. Amy feels honored to work in the role of Resource Advocate with STAR. She is dedicated to the mission of ending sexual violence and supporting those who have been impacted by sexual trauma. In her spare time, Amy loves to plan activities for her son, who just started Kindergarten. She also enjoys snuggling with him while watching his favorite movies!
